About Höganäs Elevhälsa

Höganäs Elevhälsa is the municipal student health organisation in Höganäs, north-west Skåne. School nurses, counsellors, psychologists, special needs educators, speech therapists and a school doctor meet students, guardians and partner services every day. All of them knew the same problem: documentation was taking time from the students.

Documenting and staying present didn't fit in the same conversation

Listening actively and taking notes at the same time is hard, whether it's a school nurse in a health talk, a counsellor in a sensitive support conversation or a psychologist in an assessment. Important details risk getting lost. Conversations pause so the notes can catch up. And the follow-up writing lands in the gaps of an already full day.

In autumn 2025, Höganäs decided to test whether Tandem could ease the documentation and make record-keeping more consistent across the team.

In February 2026, Höganäs introduced Tandem with 20 licences. As part of the rollout, Tandem built a direct integration with Prorenata, one of the most used record systems in Swedish student health, so finished notes transfer directly with no double entry.

Tandem, an AI assistant built for organisations like student health services, listens during the conversation and creates a draft note, using templates adapted to each conversation type and profession. The staff member reviews and adjusts the draft before it transfers to the case management system (Prorenata in this case). Nothing enters the record without their active approval.

The start was structured: joint start-up sessions for all users, close follow-ups with representatives from each profession, and follow-up sessions for the whole team in April.

The team noticed better conversations

The time saving was expected. What surprised the team was what happened to the conversations themselves. Without notes to keep up with, staff could hold eye contact, ask follow-up questions and listen for what isn't said in words.

As Frida Borgstedt, counsellor at Höganäs kommun, put it:

”I have time for that little extra thought in the conversation, because I don't have to do two things at once. I feel more relaxed and can focus better.”

For Caroline Henningsson Persson, also a counsellor, the change shows up in her week:

”I have time to see more students and to be out in shared spaces with the students.”

Documentation staff describe as consistent and fact-based

Documentation can now be started, and in many cases finished, in direct connection with the conversation. That cuts the time-consuming follow-up work and frees time for what student health is there for: the students. Several staff members also describe the notes as more consistent and fact-based than before. Frida Borgstedt described it this way:

”It feels legally sound. It doesn't read things into what's said the way a person does. It works from the facts and rarely misses details.”

Veronica Bris, school nurse, points to the health talks:

”The biggest win is that it has made documentation in health talks so much easier. Only positive responses from preschool class talks, where guardians joined every conversation.”

Built for organisations that answer to a data protection officer

For a municipality, introducing AI starts with questions about data, not features. Tandem is built for that review: all data is processed within Europe, no audio is stored, the data is never used to train AI models, and nothing enters the record without active approval by the staff member. Tandem meets the requirements of GDPR, and the direct Prorenata integration means notes stay inside the system the team already works in.

After one term, Höganäs Elevhälsa's own assessment is that Tandem is a fit-for-purpose and resource-efficient support tool that contributes to quality, efficiency and a sustainable working environment. The whole team recommends continuing in the coming school year.
