About Täsmä Työterveys

Täsmä Työterveys is a rapidly growing occupational health provider in Finland. The organisation employs around 80 clinicians and serves a broad workforce population across both work-ability assessments (Kela 1) and general clinical care. Documentation runs in Vitec Acute.

Documentation that didn't fit the working day

Like much of Finnish primary and occupational care, Täsmä's physicians faced a documentation load that competed with patient time. Finland's Social Affairs and Health authorities have reported that doctors, nurses and social workers can spend up to three hours and fifteen minutes per day on clinical documentation. At Täsmä, both occupational health specialists and general practitioners were carrying that same pattern: notes finished between appointments, work-ability assessments reconstructed from memory at the end of the day, and an administrative tail running into the evening.

Täsmä had explored AI documentation before but hadn't yet found a partner that met their requirements. They saw clear potential in Tandem and decided to run a proper pilot. From the outset, two things were clear about what the pilot needed to achieve: broad physician participation rather than a small, isolated experiment, and full integration into Täsmä's existing medical record system. Tandem did both.

Full Vitec integration, all physicians onboarded on the same day

Close collaboration with Vitec made it possible to build the Acute integration quickly, so the pilot could start without long lead times. Kickoff and training ran as a single shared session, with all participating physicians going into practice on the same day. From there, Täsmä and Tandem held regular follow-up meetings throughout the pilot, staying in regular contact with participating physicians.

The pilot brought general practitioners and occupational health physicians together. Tandem's AI medical assistant was used in both face-to-face consultations and chat-based remote visits. During each visit, Tandem listened, drafted a structured note for the clinician to review, and transferred it into Vitec Acute on approval. The clinician stayed in control of what entered the record at every step.

85% cut documentation time, not one went back

During the pilot, 13 physicians generated roughly 3,000 clinical notes through Tandem. At the end of the pilot, Täsmä ran a user survey to capture how the tool had affected their work.

Time spent on documentation went down. 85% of physicians reported that Tandem reduced the time they spent documenting (46% significantly, 39% somewhat). Not a single physician reported that documentation took longer.

Finland's health authorities estimate that doctors can spend up to three hours and fifteen minutes per day on clinical documentation. As one occupational health physician at Täsmä described:

"In a day with 4-5 demanding work ability assessments, I save up to 50 minutes during the day."

Estimates across the group ranged from around 20 to 60 minutes per day depending on case mix, with the largest savings coming from complex visits, psychiatric assessments, and longer work-ability appointments.

Physicians want to keep working this way. When asked whether they would continue with Tandem or return to their previous way of documenting, 62% said they would "definitely" stay with Tandem, and a further 15% said "probably." Only one physician indicated they would likely return to the old approach, and none said they definitely would.

Patient focus improved during the visit. 54% of physicians reported that Tandem improved their ability to concentrate on the patient (15% significantly, 39% somewhat). The rest reported no change, and none reported a decline. Less attention on the screen, more attention on the person in the room.

From pilot to company-wide rollout

The pilot did what Täsmä needed it to do. Täsmä has decided to deploy Tandem broadly across the organisation and to continue as a permanent partner.

The next phase looks beyond the core documentation use case. Täsmä and Tandem will work together on automating medical statements, deepening the integration with Vitec Acute, and bringing additional Tandem modules into use, including clinical decision support and pre-charting.

Certified for European healthcare, integrated with Vitec Acute

The Vitec Acute integration was built specifically for this pilot and was ready before training began. Physicians went from kickoff to live practice on the same day. As always, the physician decides what goes into the record. Every note sits in draft until they approve it. Nothing is added automatically.

Tandem's AI scribe is CE marked under the European Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR) as a Class IIa device and built for the regulated clinical environment Finnish occupational health requires. Patient data is processed within Europe and never used to train AI models. For Täsmä, that cleared the main procurement questions before they were asked.
