Praktikertjänst rolls out Tandem to 35 clinics in 4 months and cuts documentation time for two-thirds of clinicians
Praktikertjänst is Sweden’s largest private healthcare company, with more than 7,000 employees and 730 clinics across the country. It plays a central role in Swedish primary care and dental services, serving hundreds of thousands of patients every year. Like many providers, Praktikertjänst faced a growing challenge: clinicians were spending too much time on administrative work, leaving less time for patients and adding stress to their workdays.

Tackle documentation overload
Praktikertjänst is one of Sweden’s largest healthcare providers with 7,000 employees and 730 clinics. To understand how AI could safely help, the team launched a pilot focused on everyday use during patient visits. The goal was to ease administrative load without changing established clinical routines.
“By introducing AI-assisted documentation, we can reduce the administrative burden and let our healthcare professionals focus on patient care.”
– Björn Jonasson, Director of Healthcare

A scribe that fits daily clinical work
The pilot ran across four clinics with 31 physicians, mostly GPs. Evaluation covered real use in consultations, interviews with clinicians and patients, surveys, and measurements of time saved and note quality. Clinicians described Tandem as intuitive and easy to use. One physician saved 30 minutes in a single morning by using it consistently.
“It is actually the first time I have felt genuinely excited about something digital in healthcare.”
– Dr Annika Rusko Andersson, General Practitioner and Clinic Manager
“Being present in the moment with the patient. I truly feel Tandem helps me with that.”
– Dr Karin Sand, General Practitioner and Clinic Manager
What changed for clinicians:
Notes now follow helpful structure without disrupting routines.
Most notes move into the EHR in under 2.5 minutes.
Doctors report they can stay present during visits.

Clear, measurable impact
Survey results from the evaluation showed:
67% said documentation became more time-efficient.
60% felt more present with patients.
87% reported a reduced workload.
Most finished notes during work hours.
The majority would recommend Tandem to a colleague.
“In our evaluation, the vast majority of our doctors said yes. They actually have time to finish their documentation during a normal workday, thanks to Tandem.”
– Dr Julia Schou, General Practitioner and Head of Department for Healthcare Development
From pilot to scale
One month after the pilot ended, clinicians had already created more than 8,000 notes with Tandem. Based on the results, Praktikertjänst expanded from four sites to 35 clinics in four months. Today the network generates more than 1,000 notes every day with Tandem.
“Collaborating with Tandem feels reassuring because they are responsive to our healthcare needs and the high standards we set.”
– Niclas Lekander, Strategic Leader, Innovation Council

Built on collaboration, trust, and responsible adoption
Praktikertjänst emphasized responsibility and security while giving staff effective tools. The rollout was a partnership between local clinics, the central team, and Tandem.
“When adopting new technology, it is critical that it is done responsibly and securely. We believe strongly in close collaboration between our clinics, Praktikertjänst centrally, and technology partners like Tandem to make that possible. This also gives our staff the best tools available.”
– Dr Julia Schou, General Practitioner and Head of Department for Healthcare Development
“The fact that a major player like Praktikertjänst is investing in AI-powered documentation shows real leadership in how Swedish healthcare can evolve.”
– Lukas Saari, CEO, Tandem Health
