About Klippan municipality

Klippan is a municipality in north-western Skåne with around 17,500 residents.

Within social services, benefits officers working in disability support and elderly care, social workers in child and family services, and licensed care staff in home nursing have all tested Tandem.

The shared problem across all three teams: documentation takes up too much of the working day. A social worker in child and family services typically spends two to four hours writing every day. That's time taken from clients. It's also time that demands full concentration, in the middle of, or immediately after, conversations that are often difficult.

"The combination of being more present in conversations and still saving time is something you never thought would happen in social services."

Documentation and presence weren't compatible

Taking notes and listening actively at the same time is hard. Capturing the right wording during a sensitive conversation, then reconstructing it in Lifecare afterwards, takes time. The risk of missing details is never zero.

Klippan knew this. In autumn 2025, the municipality decided to test whether AI-assisted documentation could be the answer.

Tandem listens. The clinician decides.

In December 2025, the pilot launched with licensed care staff and benefits officers in disability support and elderly care. In spring 2026 it expanded to child and family services. Sixteen staff took part and used Tandem in their daily work for one to three months.

Tandem listens during consultations and generates a draft based on templates built for each service area. The clinician reviews and approves before the note is transferred to Lifecare. Nothing enters the medical record without the clinician's approval.

During the pilot, 2,333 notes were created.

69 per cent became more present in meetings

The time savings were expected. The shift in presence wasn't.

69 per cent of participants said they could finally focus fully on the person in front of them. Among social workers in child and family services, that figure was 100 per cent. Staff describe being able to hold eye contact, ask follow-up questions, and actually listen.

"Better client focus in meetings. I'm more present and the conversation flows more naturally. Tandem uses good phrasing that you sometimes struggle to find yourself."

— Social worker, child and family services

"Tandem gives me the chance to be active and present in the client meeting by acting as a digital note-taking support."

— Social worker

Social workers save an average of 1 hour per day

In individual and family services, the time savings are clear. Social workers estimated that daily documentation time decreased from an average of 2.5 hours to approximately 1.5 hours. The average editing time for an AI draft is 1.5 minutes.

"Time saved with Tandem means more time for client meetings, and more time to complete more investigations" — Social worker, IFO

Among licensed care staff, time savings vary more depending on role and note type. In benefits assessment, template work is still ongoing and the benefits are expected to grow once that's in place.

Legal security improved

56 per cent of participants say the quality of documentation has improved with Tandem. 69 per cent say they feel less stressed. Several staff highlight the ability to go back through the transcript and verify what was said as a concrete improvement to legal security.

"It's more legally secure because I can go back through the transcript and make sure I haven't missed important information."

— Social worker, child and family services

"It reduces the workload and the mental strain. It increases patient safety."

— Occupational therapist

94 per cent want to continue

After one to three months, the results are clear. 94 per cent of participants say Tandem is a better solution than their previous way of working, and the same share want the municipality to continue.

When documentation no longer takes all their attention, staff can listen properly again. That was the change they talked about most. Not just the time they got back.
